The paintings and drawings of Jonathan Barbieri are known for their psychologically demanding imagery, set in a figurative idiom, rooted in modern and contemporary expressionism. Most of the artwork featured on this Web Site has been included in museum and gallery exhibitions in the San Francisco Bay Area – most recently at The Palo Alto Art Center and the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. Work by this painter has also been exhibited extensively throughout the Republic of Mexico.

Public collections include:

• The Achenbach Foundation for the Graphic Arts, Palace of the Legion of honor, San Francisco Fine Arts Museums.
• The diRosa Preserve, Napa, California.
• El Instituto Oaxqueño de las Culturas (the Oaxacan Institute of Culture).

Barbieri was a featured artist in the exhibition, Propios y Extraños, at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Oaxaca, Mexico - MACO (the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, Mexico) in 2001.
